The Fontanini story began in 1908 in Bagni di Lucca, Italy, where the company grew from the historic figurine-making traditions of the Lucca region. More than a century later, Fontanini describes a heritage extending across four generations.

Fontanini states that its figures are fully made in Italy and individually hand-painted, continuing the artisan character that has defined the company for generations.

The company's production process includes four principal stages—sculpting, mold creation, molding, and painting. Fontanini explains that its figures are primarily molded in a specially prepared PVC polymer whose plasticity helps reproduce the details of the original sculpture while offering strong resistance to scratches and breakage. After inspection, the unfinished figures are distributed to artisans, and the painting is completed entirely by hand.
